Fishing Jamboree

This weekend we went to check out the Jewel Lake Fishing Jamboree.  Anchorage is full of lakes in town and throughout the winter months people are out fishing on the lakes all over town.

Each year the Alaska Fish and Wildlife release 5,000 salmon in Jewel Lake before the jamboree.  The week leading up to it many of the local elementary schools take a field trip to do some ice fishing.  It was a great event, they provided bait, poles (for people that didn't have them), coffee and great people watching.

All the people on the lake.

The best... kids all over have their heads stuck in the holes!

Fingers and toes crossed - a sneak peek into a future posting:).
