Spring 2015

We've been busy over the past several months and have been bad bloggers. Here's a few out of date blogs to give everyone a quick recap of what we've been up to:

The snow this year was very lackluster (if you like snow). They moved the official Iditarod start up to Fairbanks in early March due to lack of snow along the traditional route. We still got to see the ceremonial start in Anchorage, but as you can see they had to truck snow in to cover the streets.

We got quite a bit of house work done this winter/spring. We tore out a wall (not load bearing luckily) and installed a kitchen island, straightened the out-of-code stairway, and tore out the old carpet and replaced with tile/laminate/cork flooring. And a lot of painting.

The dogs weren't too happy that they needed to move outside...also their racetrack (that was the carpet) got a whole lot slicker.

Joni made a dining room table out of the old 2x4s that came out of the wall (courtesy of Roseburg lumber).

The warm winter also made for some good trout fishing opportunities, although we needed to improvise to get the boat in the water.

A tow across Skilak lake - sure beats rowing.

Again...Joni gets the biggest fish of the trip.

One of Ryan's coworkers took us out for a flight seeing/sheep scouting trip in his plane. He lives in an "airpark" where you can drive from your garage right to the airstrip...pretty cool.

The Knik Glacier.

Area known as the "Gorge."

Looking back down the Knik River towards Palmer.
