Yes, it's a bit scary but we finally have decided to attempt a blog! This is really supposed to be Ryan's project since he refuses to be involved in any social media such as Facebook or Twitter (shhhh - I haven't told him that I think this may qualify as social media under Webster's definition), but none the less, I will get it started.
Being in Alaska we have many family and friends that have been wanting to keep up, see, laugh and be involved in our adventures. I don't blame you really... we are quite fascinating people (not really). However, for those of you that know me well, also know that sh#$ happens to me on a daily basis. So feel free laugh, cry, or do whatever emotion comes to mind but for now this is all serious business, it isn't about me! So I have been assigned the task of getting you up to date on our life (don't worry it won't take long). We have had many large changes in the past couple months, most of them bitter-sweet but I'm excited to see what the next chapter offers us.
For the working world: Ryan is enjoying his new job and has been very busy with it. It is a bit of a change to more of a corporate setting but I think he is getting adjusted. Probably the biggest change is not being able to sleep-in. He's working quite a few hours and going to all kinds of training (that is way above my intelligence capacity) but is enjoying the change and challenge. For me....our timing was NOT ideal to move to another state as a teacher. First, it was past the beginning of the teaching contract year. I'm still working on getting a license to teach here (or substitute) and have spent numerous frustrating hours on the phone with the state. I have started looking for other jobs, besides teaching for this year and have had a couple of interviews, but nothing that is "a good fit." So I continue searching....and laying around eating bon-bons (I'm only kidding...I prefer Reese's Klondike Bars).
Knowing that winter would be quickly approaching we have been attempting to take advantage of as many outdoor activities as possible.

Ryan's catches |
One of Ryan's catches wasn't having the best of luck. Escaped a bear then caught by a person! |
